 WHY WOMEN DISCRIMINATION???

"WE ARE INDIANS" this is what we say proudly when someone asks us, who you are? But this "WE" who lives on the great land INDIA and who boasts of their glorious heritage, the women are not enjoying the equal status as that of men where the scriptures describe the women as better half. From the history of mankind , till today, women are one of the vulnerable sections of society. Now narrowing down to our Indian society, women harassment, gender discrimination are one of the biggest challenge in front of the government today. As the time progressed, women are considered as an object for sex and inferior to the men in different spheres of knowledge. The traditional mentalities of our Indians are in such a way that women should be confined to kitchen and serve the family unconditionally. Now we are in 67th year of independent India, where the women harassment and objectifying of them is still practiced!! Adding to this, the recent atrocities against them have shown exponential increase. OK.. then here the question arises, when this will reach to halt? Who will stop this?? To counter this the government has come up with many laws and acts. Some of them worth to be quoted-- The Dowry prohibition act, Medical termination of pregnancy act, Immoral trafficking prevention act etc.. But here another question tickles our mind that, are they really effective?? Will they really abolish the discrimination?? Here the answer lies, not completely. The recent harassments on women clearly shows this. Then how can we stop this?? Until there is a change in the mentalities of our people on how we look at women no law can work effectively. So not only the laws can change the system, but also a positive response from the society is also demanded. For this the values should be taught from the childhood and the women empowerment should be given priority. Apart from this, the Judicial system should exercise stricter rules and it should be made more responsible and gender sensitive to women's needs, especially when they are discriminated. Now let us take a vow of respecting our women, let us be responsible for them, treat them equally and bring glory to our loving country India and  LET US DISCRIMINATE THIS DISCRIMINATION!!!!
